On the 14th March 2016 I headed into London to attend the first day of four workshops, which have been spread over the year. After completing an intense program, I am pleased to say I am now an Ambassador for Kevin Murphy and one of their ‘Session Stylists’, qualified to work behind the scenes at fashion shows internationally. I have been very highly trained in Kevin Murphy product knowledge and am now even more skilled in lots of current trending hair looks, including ‘wanding’ and ‘wave curling’.

Here is a brief synopsis of Kevin Murphy:
When searching the world for their ingredients, KEVIN.MURPHY looked for companies that use micro cultivation, organic growing practices, or ecologically sound wild harvesting techniques to ensure the KM range is of the very highest natural quality. Vitamins and amino acids repair the outer surface of the hair, thickening the hair and reducing the formation of split ends. Moisturisers from Mango Butter and Murumuru Butter smooth the cuticles and soften the hair. Extracts from Peruvian Bark, Baobab, Bamboo and Orange Blossom infuse the hair with weightless moisture. Antioxidants from Kakadu Plum, Orchid, Lotus Flower and Desert Lime reduce breakage and repair chemical damage naturally. KM also have the most amazing conditioning treatment, which is available in the salon, called ‘Treat Me’.

All KEVIN.MURPHY hair products are sulphate free, paraben free and cruelty free and very proudly have the PETA stamp, meaning that no ingredient, not even the plastics used to make the product bottles, has been tested on animals. They even designed their packaging so it fits together well, when being shipped around the world, to reduce their carbon footprint and look after the environment. There is nothing that they haven’t thought of and literally have a product that solves any of your hair problems whilst also fulfilling your hair desires.

On my first day at the Session Stylist workshop we had an in-depth look into the whole KM product range, learning everything from all the natural ingredients used and essential oils, to what products to use for each individual client. Being an Ambassador for Kevin Murphy, means that I have been trained to the highest level to understand everything about the KM product range, and to be a session stylist for my salon. For three days out of the four of the ‘Session Stylist’ course, we learned lots of amazing and current trending techniques that we can quickly use on clients throughout the salon, mainly to do with styling the hair and enhancing the clients look even further. Then, on the final and fourth day of becoming an Ambassador, I headed back into London with my own stunning model to do a professional photo shoot for Kevin Murphy. This was the final part of my course and my graduation day. I confidently presented my model to a KM panel and explained what inspired me to choose my final look, the techniques and products I used to achieve this, and also presented my mood board on my iPad.

The whole year, working alongside Kevin Murphy, was so exciting and I have learnt so much. I am now passing on my knowledge to my clients and I have also designed and implemented a training afternoon for the Retreat team, where I happily trained them in how to use some of the amazing techniques I had learnt. It’s so good in life to pass on what you learn, and I love to learn something new, however small, every day.
